Unfortunate example of bad crew ruining good show
After the midpoint of the show, with a few exceptions, the sound was pretty good. The piano was not clear at all in the first few songs. At one point, the bongos were louder than the piano while the piano was being featured. The other instruments were poorly balanced with each other until late in the show. Book of Love's mic was not clear initially. They were also louder than the guitar at several points. I realized at some point after the halfway mark that I hadn't thought about how poor the sound was in a few songs. Initially, the mic for Book of Love was not clear either. The piano was not clear at all in the first few songs. The bongos were louder than the piano at one point while the piano was being featured. At several points, they were louder than the guitar. The sound was pretty good after the midpoint of the show with a few exceptions. For most of the show, there was a large shiny box behind the guitar player that reflected the spotlight right back at us. Unfortunately, these technical issues marred what would have been a fantastic performance and set list. I would have given the show 5 stars otherwise.
